Winter Gardens aGlow

One of the most popular winter activities in the Treasure Valley is the annual Winter Gardens aGlow at the Idaho Botanical Garden. With more than 550,000 energy-efficient lights across 14 acres, it’s an ideal nighttime activity.

Warm Up with Spicy Food

The temperatures have dropped, and it might be snowing out. How do you combat the cold? Warm up with spicy food. For example, you could get spicy sushi in Eagle Idaho at Ling & Louie’s Asian Bar and Grill. For the ultimate spicy sushi, try the Inferno Roll with albacore tuna, cucumber, and shrimp, topped with avocado, ahi, ponzu, and a signature crybaby sauce.

Scentsy Commons Christmas Lights

The Scentsy Commons off of Eagle Road features a staggering 724,000 lights. This equals 43 miles of lights wrapped around 450 trees. New for 2019 is the Tunnel of Lights with 67,000 lights. Stop by before the end of the year to catch a glimpse.

Ice Skating at The Village

Looking for an ice skating rink? Try the Village at Meridian between November 16 and January 26, weather permitting. Hours vary, but the rink typically opens at 3 p.m. on weekdays and noon on weekends, with holiday hours varying.

Holiday Trees in the Area

There are plenty of Christmas trees to see around the Treasure Valley. With the Grove Plaza tree downtown, the Village in Meridian’s tree, Boise State University’s Holiday Tree, and the City of Nampa’s Christmas tree, you have options. While their lighting days have already passed, each brightly shining tree is quite a sight to behold.

Bogus Basin

From alpine skiing and winter tubing to snowshoeing and riding the mountain coaster, Bogus Basin offers winter activities for the whole family. Ski trails are illuminated for night skiing as well.

Mall to See Santa

Taking the little ones to see Santa is a tradition for many families. Photo opportunities with Santa are already available in the Boise Towne Square, at Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops, and at the Village in Meridian. There are one-day-only events as well, and opportunities for Santa Paws photos with pets at Petco, PetSmart, and Boise Towne Square. Be sure to check your photo op of choice for times.
